Ethics First Task Force - My Anti Gift Giving Message

Hey, Everybody.

I was asked by the NCRA's Ethics First Task Force to talk about an important topic in the court reporting world.  I can’t believe it’s 2012 and we are still having to deal with the issue of Gift Giving.  is there really any debate that bribery and conflicts of interest are bad?  So too it follows that the practice of some court reporting firms giving gifts to law firms in exchange for work is... wait for it... wait for it... bad?

So what's wrong with law firms receiving kickbacks from a court reporting firm?  Watch my video and find out.

I read of one firm offering $100 gift cards to law firms that proved that they cancelled a job with another reporting firm and set it with their office. That`s a little below the belt for my tastes.

Although I don`t agree with the black and white policy that the NCRA has put forth, I do agree with the message as a whole. I just don`t want to have to keep a ledger if I want to take my clients out to lunch.
