My Upcoming Visit To the CR Board

Sacramento, Here I Come
I'm packing my bags and getting ready to head up to Sacramento this week to visit the Court Reporters Board of California. I'm volunteering to help with the Examination Writing. It's hard to believe that what was such a big huge scary dragon to slay -- the CSR exam -- I am now being asked to help write. Crazy! What an honor! I was visiting South Coast College this week and Jean and the crew were so proud of me. (I graduated from SCC in 1999.) Naturally, they had all kinds of feedback for me as far as the exam goes.

What I Will Be Doing At The CR Board
I will be involved in the Item Writing workshop. To the best of my ability (allow-ability) I will write what I can on this blog about what it is exactly we do in the Item Writing workshop. I know there are many, many people curious as to the inner workings of the state exam. Stay tuned.

Some Interesting Logistics
Ever wondered how volunteers of the CR Board get treated? Pretty good, I'd say. All participants receive $150 per day (reimbursed) to cover meals and incidentals. Airline, hotel (reimbursed at state rate) is covered for those outside of the Sacramento area. They provide airline tickets up front, theremaining expenses are paid for by the volunteer and reimbursed by the Board with a voucher/travel form. Due to the full day schedule, it has been standard practice to arrive the night before the first day of the workshop.
