An Extraordinary Person

This past weekend, I got invited by my friend Briana Walker (http://www.brianawalker.com) to watch her dance performance at the Long Beach Aquarium. I know Briana from Jones Day, a huge law firm that uses my firm for depositions. Briana's routine was in the hip-hop style with her dance partner Auti Angel. They are a dynamic and entertaining pair. The audience of approximately 200 fans was thrilled.

Oh, I forgot to mention, Briana, does all this from a wheelchair.

Briana's story is nothing less than inspiring and amazing. She was driving on the 55 Freeway when she fainted at the wheel of her car, hitting the cement median at seventy-five miles per hour. A young, aspiring dancer, just 23 years old at the time of her accident, Briana was determined to create an amazing life in spite of her new circumstances. Briana has written a book, Dance Anyway, which I highly recommend. I bought two -- one to own and one to give away. I let my mom read it and her response was, I couldn't put it down. It's an easy read with an important message. Never give up. Never let adversity stop you from reaching for your dreams.

As I watched Briana perform this weekend, I could tell that she not only wrote a book about overcoming adversity but she truly lives it. Way to go, Briana!
