Deadline Calculator Bug Found (minor)

We have really, really smart visitors to our court reporting site tools and blog posts. Just yesterday we got an email from just such a visitor... Thanks to Greg for writing to us about the following issue with our deadline calculator:

There appears to be a discrepancy in calculating 20 days from Oct. 22, 2007. Here's what it gives: 20 calendar days after Monday, October 22, 2007 is Sunday, November 11, 2007. However, this date falls on a weekend and Veteran's Day, so the next business day is Monday, November 12, 2007. I think the correct answer -- given the legal holiday on Monday -- is Tuesday, November 13, 2007. Thanks for the great tool!

Thanks for the great tip, Greg. You are correct!
We are looking into the problem and will post a fix for the bug ASAP. At first blush, it appears that the problem is when a holiday falls on a Sunday, the software isn't smart enough (yet!) to know that we naturally observe the holiday that Monday and thus the next business day should be Tuesday.

And just a few days prior, a visitor named Edward from Baker & McKenzie wrote:
Your date calculator does not take into account Rule 6 for Federal cases, which adds three days for all modes of service except hand delivery.

Bingo!
The calculator doesn't account for Rule 6 for Federal cases. (Probably because the programmer didn't even know about such a thing!) Thanks, Edward! We've since put a disclaimer on there. Use the court calendar software here.
