The End of the Court Reporter Shortage In Sight

BREAKING: The End of the Court Reporter Shortage In Sight

Yes, there is a shortage of court reporters. Yes, some agencies are sending “digital reporters” (fake court reporters) making the cure possibly worse than the disease. See why this is dangerous.

But, there is a real solution. And it’s called — Voice Writing.

California has passed AB 156 (2021-2022) which authorizes the California Court Reporters Board to license Voice Writers. Voice Writing technology bypasses the traditional steno machine (which takes years to master) in lieu of speaking the proceedings into a microphone connected to a laptop loaded with Dragon/Eclipse Software.

• People are becoming duly licensed CSRs in California in months instead of years

• The Court Reporters Board of California holds them to the same exact standard of testing and licensing required by a stenographer to obtain a CSR

• Poway Adult School, for example, anticipates seven (7) new CSRs during 2023. And 35 during 2024.

The end of the court reporter shortage is coming. Don’t be surprised if your next depo is attended by a Voice Writing, CSR!
